Using bugs to say goodbye to nasty pests

Experts give growers practical advice on the benefits of natural enemies. A WORKSHOP EXPLORING insect interaction in the vineyard came with the message: 'the more good bugs, the better'. The Adelaide Hills Wine Region Environment Committee (AHWREC) recently held a workshop looking at the types of good insects and how growers can encourage their prevalence, so as to deter harmful pests and diseases in the vineyard. The workshop was one of five biodiversity workshops organised by the committee, which took place at the PIRSA Research Centre, at Lenswood, in September, and was followed by a tour of the Henschke Lenswood vineyard.
