Effect of bilateral transcranial direct current stimulation combined with gait training in a child with hemiparetic spastic cerebral palsy: Case report

Recent studies have demonstrated that unilateral anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over the primary motor cortex enhances the results of treadmill training in children with hemiparetic and diparetic spastic cerebral palsy [1,2]. However, studies addressing the effects of tDCS on stroke survivors with hemiparesis demonstrate important benefits stemming from anodal stimulation over the motor cortex ispilateral to the brain lesion concomitantly to contralesional cathodal stimulation [3].
