India: Foil duties against Chinese foil look likely, verdict 14 March 2017

The anti-dumping investigation into foil imports from China which began from 15 December, 2015 has foundpreliminary injury to the domestic industry from some exporters and estimated dumping margin to bebetween 20-60%. The investigation was supposed to have been completed within one year from initiation,however due to the change in director of the agency conducting the investigation the deadline for the samehas been now extended to 14 March, 2017. Consequently the foil makers in India are hoping to get somerelief with the conclusion of the investigation by the middle of March. Market participants report that currentfoil price is around INR 230-242 /kg (30 micron gauge), with relatively low lead times.
