摘要

The trivalent ions of the 3d metals as well as those of aluminum and its homologues form mononuclear aqua ions in aqueous solution only at low pH, but in the physiological pH range they are. to a large extent, condensed to isopoiybases. The identification of low molecular weight "bioligands" that form complexes with the M~(III) ions in neutral aqueous solution, competing with the formation of networks of hydroxo and oxo bridges, is one of the basic aims of bioinorganic chemistry.
