One of the rapidly growing research areas in the field of asymmetric synthesis is that of catalytic transformations by using small organic molecules called organocatalysts.Orga-nocatalysis has received much attention in organic chemistry because of the obvious advantages over its metal-mediated counterpart.Given the current fascination with asymmetric organocatalysis,we should ponder how this change in fortune for simple organic molecules,where an inorganic element is not part of the active principle,has come about.
