We report that a fluorocarbon gas can have a highly effective fluidizing effect on a semicrystalline dipalmitoylphosphati-dylcholine(DPPC)monolayer and can prevent it from crystallizing.DPPC monolayers are commonly being used as simplified models of lung surfactant.
