When I have the opportunity to talk to public servants from Canberra, I inevitably come to the realisation that, more often than not, they just don't get it.I am not unkind, and maybe it is due to the environment in Canberra (too far removed from the realities of life)? God only knows, but when it comes to the seafood and maritime side of our business, with law and compliance, the fishing industry is burdened with a heavy yoke.How many times have we complained about the many nonsense regulations, excessive use of red tape and overbearing use of nebulous instructions, hard-to-understand forms and documents?
