Feline dental radiography.

As in the dog, determining the correct angles for x-ray tube head and dental film positioning is the key to avoiding frustration when performing dental radiology in cats. Please see the Foundations feature in the March 2004 issue of the Journal [J Vet Dent 21(1); 48-52, 2004] for step-by-step guidelines on how to perform the bisecting angle and parallel techniques. Previous Foundations features have also discussed basic physics, radiation safety, x-ray machine set up, film developing, and techniques for the mesiocephalic dog. This segment of the dental radiology series will describe taking a diagnostic set of radiographs in the mesiocephalic cat. Note that these measurements may differ in brachiocephalic patients. The techniques are very similar to canine radiology, however there are some species differences that will be reviewed.
