摘要

Principal component analysis was carried out for twenty aboveground and belowground characters in 83 morphotypic groups identified in 472 accessions of indigenous taro germplasm. Six principal components were identified and this accounted for 68.75% of accumulated variation. The first and the second principal components with 27.76% and 13.72% accumulated variation were associated with plant height and plant type. A diagram obtained on the basis of the first two principal components of the PCA gives a very confused picture of clustering in relation to the 13 major groups identified largely on the basis of the corm and cormel characters.
