A New Take on Term Pregnancy

In December 2012, a meeting of the Defining "Term" Pregnancy Workgroup was convened by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the March of Dimes, and the World Health Organization to refine the definition of term pregnancy (Spong, 2013). Four nurses, nurse-midwives, or nurse practitioners, including AWHONN's Vice President of Research, Education and Publications, Dr. Debra Bingham, were part of the 19 members of the workgroup.
