Improving resection of malignant glioma

摘要

For almost a century, treatment of most adult malignant glioma has started with maximum safe surgical resection. Resection quickly reduces the effect of tumour mass on the surrounding brain, commonly relieving symptoms. Moreover, generous tissue sampling within these heterogeneous tumours, rather than needle biopsy, favours an accurate pathological diagnosis, which is important for selection of further treatment.
