Electric water heaters

Committee EL-020 for Electric Water Heating Appliances, met in April 2005 in Brisbane to resolve issues preventing the publication of AS 3498, AS 1056, AS 1361 and AS 4692. The negative vote for AS 3498 was overcome by developing changes in the Standards involving the general requirements and the conditions for water heaters. One of the major changes included was to prevent solar water heaters in extreme hot summer condition from over heating due to stagnation conditions. This revision refers to the new performance tests that are defined in AS 2712 to verify conformance. Standards Australia will ensure that both sets of revisions are to be issued at the same time.
