FARMS and ranches all have collections of welding repair jobs from broken feeders, worn plow disks, to various other equipment cracks and breaks. Many of these jobs require different welding rods and welding wire for the best and safest repair. Mike Crawford, product manager for Hobart Brothers, says a good "arsenal" of welding rods for the farm and ranch includes: E6011, E6013, E7014, E7018 H4R and E7018 H8. "These are all basic electrodes, but each has a different characteristic that tailors them for specific applications," he explains. "By far the most popular are the E6011 and E6013 stick electrodes in 1/8-inch diameter."
