Bogies for urban traffic vehicles have to be designed for different, partially more difficult requirements and operational conditions, than other running gear. Specially track layout and track status result in difficult design and operation conditions. At Siemens TS those running gears are developed using the same methods and tools as for vehicles at higher speeds. Siemens offers a spectrum of bogies which covers the full range of urban transport vehicles. Recent developments as the running gears for Avanto~(~R)/S70 and the heavy rail bogie SF1000 are presented. Some vehicles require special components. The development of a hydropneumatic suspension system and an electronic derailment detection system are presented.
