Xuchang Tobacco Machinery Co Ltd was established in 1958 and, in the beginning, it produced agricultural machinery. From this period after 1966, it completely transferred to manufacturing tobacco machinery. Since then it has developed seven different models of cigarette-making machines, from the speed of 800cigarettes/minute to 8,000cigarettes/minute. Nowadays, the company mainly supplies three types of cigarette-making machines, from the speed of 5,000cigarettes/minute and 6,500cig/min to 8,000cig/min. Sales of cigarette-making machines account for 60% of Xuchang's business. In the last 10 years, it has continuously developed many types of tobacco machines, such as cigarette transferring and bufferrnsystem, filter rod making combination, multi-filter combining machine, filter shooter and receiving system, and carton package transferring and buffer system, which, the company says, has greatly enriched its products lines. In 2003, it built a new comprehensive factory, covering an area of 130,000m~2.
