Evolution of manuscript submission and review process

Dear colleagues, we are pleased to inform you that our journal continues to grow in terms of manuscripts received, in terms of number of pages printed and in terms of articles downloaded. The number of new manuscripts received has more than tripled since we took over the journal. All of the members of the editorial team are happy to be part of this success. However, this substantial growth leads to "growing pains" that are similar to those faced by a private enterprise encountering a nice, large, new market. The editorial team in close cooperation with Elsevier is continually seeking for methods to improve our journal's performance. One key parameter that is important to authors as well as to the editorial office is publication time. Publication time is impacted by several factors such as time taken up by reviewers, time needed by the associate editors, time used by the editorial office, and that time required by the authors to address comments and changes, as well as the time required to publish the paper after it has been accepted.
