The 'Greening' of the solid waste industry

We have witnessed major changes in a number of issues related to the environment during the last 30 years. In many regions of the world, we have experienced substantial improvements in water and air qualities. We are now acknowledging that some of our current practices are diminishing the quality of our soils. In some regions of the world we are exceeding the capacity of the soil to assimilate certain nutrients (such as nitrogen). Public awareness has increased tremendously in many topics. Most recently, the subjects of climate change, greenhouse gases and others have come to the forefront of the popular news. Hardly one day passes without reading an article or listening to a radio program which deals with the environment.
