Diagnosis, evaluation and management proposal for urban solid waste generated in the 'Santa Elena Canyon' natural protected area

The Santa Elena Canyon Protection Area of Flora and Fauna (SECPAFF) is located in the northeast of Chihuahua State, approximately 300 km from the capital city, in an area that comprises Manuel Benavidez and Ojinaga municipalities; for an extension of 277,209 ha. It is located at 29°02' North latitude and 103°38' West longitude, and at 1020 m above sea level. The importance of this area is not only constituted by its political relationship with the United States, but also on its ecological and biological wealth; there is a broad diversity of ecosystems in this area, ranging from desert to temperate-cold forest, providing shelter to 79 protected species (13 flora species, mostly cactus; and 66 fauna).
