Composition and characteristics of medical waste in different hospitals: a case study in Southeast China

摘要

Medical waste generation has rapidly increased over recent decades; it is estimated that over one million tons of medical wastes were generated in China in 2009. However, information on production is limited, and official statistical data are lacking. This research aims to establish a database with information andrnstatistics on medical waste sources, composition and characteristics in southeast China. This database is expected to provide a basis for further research and to suggest a direction for controlling medical waste generation.
