摘要

In hilly regions, SWM problem was found acute due to factors such as topographical, geological and hydro-geological features, scarcity of land, narrow width and frequent turns on roads, inflow of tourists and lack of proper implements and vehicles compatible with hilly condition. Processing and proper disposal are the two important components of SWM system. The adoption of internal policies and rules that promote good SWM practice and assessment of the prevailing environmental effects due to unhygienic SWM system is necessary.
