Waste edible oil management in China

It is estimated that the annual waste edible oil yield is over 10 million tons in China (Du et al., 2013). Many crimes related to the illegal backflow of waste edible oil to the dining table have occurred frequently in recent years. Some people collected the waste edible oil and sold it back to restaurants for a lower price after a simple refining in order to get more profits. The measures taken by Chinese government can be divided into two aspects: legislation and supervision. The primary measure is legislation. On April 15th, 2002, Stipulation on Management of Waste Edible Oil Produced in Food Catering Units was emitted by Ministry of Health, Administration for Industry & Commerce, former State Environmental Protection Administration and Ministry of Urban-Rural Development. Article 4 stipulates that the waste edible oil generated should be deposited in a sealed volume marked with characters such as 'only for waste edible oil'.
