Present and future of SRF

Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) is a well-known alternative to direct combustion of waste. This concept evolved towards an option concerning both municipal solid waste and special waste allowing a more flexible adoption of this approach. Questions that can be put on this approach are multiple: Is SRF a clean strategy? Is it economically viable? Does it guarantee a favourable energy balance? Is it a product with stable characteristics? Is it always in opposition to direct combustion?
