摘要

The increased construction and use of underground facilities requires, in the case of countries within seismic zones, safety provision against motions caused by earthquakes. Generally, underground structures have lower earthquake risk as compared to surface structures. Nevertheless, significant damages are known to have been caused to underground structures and therefore, seismic analysis should not be overlooked. The case of circular underground openings under seismic loading has been approached by numerous researchers. Seismic induced deformation and loading for square lined cross sections are hereby examined.
