Tobacco-heating products (THPs) are enjoying surging popularity as smokers and tobacco companies pursue less hazardous alternatives to combustible cigarettes. By providing a haptic experience, nicotine delivery and tobacco taste similar to those of traditional smokes, they successfully occupy a niche for smokers who seek to quit but are not willing to switch to e-cigarettes. By now, several THPs are commercially available in various markets. While each product uses a different technology, they are all designed to release fewer harmful substances by avoiding combustion.
