Spurred by the need to write a piece on regulation, I thought that I might walk down the road to have a look at the new standardized tobacco packs that have been around for a while but that on May 20 became the only packs permitted on the shelves of U.K. shops. But then it occurred to me that the U.K. has had a tobacco products display ban in force since 2015 (2012 in respect of big stores), and since I was too stingy to buy a pack and not patient enough to stand around like a photo-bomber waiting for a display cabinet to be opened for a smoker mad enough to hand over between £7 ($8.93) and £10, I decided to look online. And there they were.
