Advantage India: Unlocking the potential of Indian textile industry

The World Trade in Textile & Clothing (T&C) has increased from US$356 billion in 2000 to US$530 billion in 2006 at a CAGR of 6.86 percent. It is widely expected to reach US$700 billion by 2012 at a CAGR of 5.6 per cent. It may be noted that exports of T&C have been growing at a CAGR of about 23 percent. Turkey comes next with a CAGR of 14 per cent. India is the 5th largest supplier of T&C and its exports have increased at a CAGR of 10 per cent. The US is the largest importer of T&C in the world.
