This book has a lot to recommend it as a resource for students who were in their early teens when the United States intervened in Afghanistan and launched a full-scale invasion of Iraq. It draws on the vast range of secondary literature available on the subjects and the memoirs of major and minor protagonists. The book traces the Bush administration's preoccupation with Iraq (amounting to an obsession on the part of some) from the start of its term. It shows how the CIA's top management 'folded under pressure' and helped to market the 2003 war (p. 120).
