摘要

Strengthening of structures to avoid further damages is inevitable in different conditions. In this paper, tonevaluate the effect of fi bre-reinforced polymer (FRP) plates on damaged and non-damaged members, annextensive experimental programme is reported. Several beam specimens were built. Some specimens werenstrengthened after loading condition. The damaged specimens strengthened by FRP plates containing twondifferent resins (epoxy or polyester) were tested. Other beam specimens were strengthened by compositenplates before loading. Moreover, a numerical modelling procedure was performed, and it showed goodnagreement with experimental results. Results showed improvements in fl exural capacity of damaged beamsnstrengthened by FRP laminates or plates compared with the non-damaged ones. Copyright © 2009 JohnnWiley & Sons, Ltd.
