摘要

Phase change materials (PCMs) have gained increasing popularity to capture and store thermal energy for short or long-term to be used at a later time in advance energy generation systems. Between all sort of new energy sources, solar energy is a form of green energy which has much superiority, including vast amount of resources, accessibility and lack of environmental pollution. However, solar energy can be discrete and discontinuous. Thus, the advancement of novel energy-storage materials for stashing solar energy to enhance the operational efficiency has become an important research topic in recent years. Particularly, the development of form stable composite phase change materials for absorbing and storing solar thermal energy is propounded to have much promising applications owing to their high phase change latent heat. In this study, a fully-described review of research findings and most recent technological and material advancements in the field of solid-liquid organic composite phase change materials is introduced while concentrating on the solar-thermal performance potency for this class of PCMs. Solar-thermal energy conversion efficiency, thermal energy storage performance, and thermal and physical characteristics are also considered in the context of this review.
