This is a specialist tome and covers the subject comprehensively. The book, third in the series, includes textual descriptions, ample photographs and many line drawings. Probably not a book you would pick up for a general railway related read but an excellent reference volume. As an example, any railway modeller thinking of building the DAPOL crane kit will find the description included here. It covers all sizes of rail-mounted crane from the small four-wheeled hand cranked devices through to the large locomotive re-railing types. Both steam and diesel crane types are covered. If you have even a passing interest in railway cranes the book is value for money and is thoroughly recommended. With the model railway r-t-r suppliers about to introduce new model cranes the timing of publication is apt.
