Ebola-Like Virus Found

A newly discovered virus from the family that causes rabies may be responsible for three linked cases of hemorrhagic fever in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2009. An international team of researchers reported on 27 September in PLoS Pathogens the first evidence that a virus from the rhabdovirus family, which typically causes brain swelling or flulike disease, is a hemorrhagic fever agent like Ebola virus and Marburg virus-among the most virulent pathogens known to infect humans.
