摘要

In this paper we have investigated the free convective flow and heat transfer in a viscous heat generating fluid in a saturated porous portion of duct is insulated while the upper half is maintained at constant temperature. The Galerkin finite element method with six noded triangular elements is adopted to obtain the iterative solution for the stream function and temperature governed by the coupled non-linear equations. The flow being symmetric, the expressions for velocity and temperature are obtained in typical quadrant of elliptic duct. The interaction of various forces acting on the fluid and heat transfer is clearly brought out through various profiles of the velocity and temperature. The local rate of heat transfer is also investigated computationally.
