Colin St John Wilson 1922-2007 Architect who leaves a legacy of cultural landmarks

Colin St John 'Sandy' Wilson, who died last year, went to Cambridge in 1940 to read history, but changed to architecture having been drawn to the idea of being an artist. Instead, he became a prodigious collector of contemporary British art. Wilson later returned to Cambridge having been invited by Professor Leslie Martin to join his staff in the School of Architecture, having previously worked with Martin and a remarkable group of architects in what he referred to as the 'brave new world days' of the London County Council architects' department.
