When i see the word ethics in the same sentence as the word architecture, I usually see red. I see the displacement of the poignancy of the term ethics into two havens that conveniently distract attention from the real ethical purpose of architecture. The first haven is the one that confuses professional propriety with an ethical position, as if acting in accordance with the codes of professional conduct will ensure ethical behaviour. The second is the myth that architecture as aesthetic and technical stuff in some way contains an ethical essence.
