The riba is seeking more practices to participate in its Future Trends Survey, a new initiative which will plot the economic fortunes of the architectural sector on a monthly basis. The first survey took place in January, and early results confirmed what many have suspected-that there are a good deal more practices predicting a decline in workload than a rise. But Adrian Dobson, the RIBA's director of practice, says broad trends are more useful than individual snapshots. Over the coming months the data will enable us to track the confidence of the profession both generally and in terms of different sectors and practice sizes. The online survey, which takes only 10 minutes to complete, gauges levels of confidence by asking architects for their impressions of business performance over the coming quarter. Participants are asked about trends in staffing levels and workload across different sectors.
