It's been a time of bidding frenzy lately. Not just for me but for the whole practice, indeed, the whole profession. With so much of this office's work in the public sector the OJEU life isn't new for us but that doesn't diminish the intensity of the experience, nor lessen its pain. Bidding's strange, occupying a parallel universe both in and outside the office. When you get stuck in it takes you over and into a world of short, sharp, vivid dreams, filled not just with the thrill of winning but of making a difference; of potential, fulfilment and hope. In the glowing half-light of proto-reality optimism reigns: this will be the perfect job with an inspiring brief and enlightened client. It's the one. Everything's possible.
