Larger Asian rivers: Climate change, river flow, and watershed management

Worldwide, most of the large rivers play a crucial role in people's life. They provide freshwater and food to millions of people, function as important transportation lines, and are essential for industrial production (WMO, 2006). However, larger rivers can also convey adverse effects (e.g. floods and water pollutants) due to natural or human induced changes in their hydrologic and ecologic systems (Kundzewicz et al., 2007).
