摘要

The Third Special Volume of the journal Quaternary International includes nine papers presented in 2007 at the Third Plenary Meeting and Field Trip of IGCP 521 "Black Sea-Mediterranean Corridor during the last 30 ka: Sea level change and human adaptation" and INQUA 501 "Caspian-Black Sea-Mediterranean Corridor during the last 30 ka: Sea level change and human adaptive strategies." This meeting was held jointly with the Fifth Plenary Conference of IGCP 481 "Dating Caspian Sea level Changes." The main goal of these projects is to bring the relevant but diverse research groups together to provide cross-disciplinary and cross-regional correlation of geological, geochemical, geophysical, paleontological, archaeological, and historical records in the various "Corridor" settings in order to evaluate the influence of sea-level change and coastline migration on human adaptation during the last 30 ky. The Third Plenary Meeting and Field Trip took place in Gelendz-hik, Russia, and Kerch, Ukraine (Fig. la, b). It was organized by the Southern Branch of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Gelendzhik, Russia; the Beneficent Foundation "Demetra," Kerch, Ukraine; the Avalon Institute of Applied Science, Winnipeg, Canada; the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands; and the International Society of Environmental Micropaleontology, Microbiology, and Meiobenthology; with financial contributions from the Russian Foundation of Basic Research, INQUA, UNESCO-IUGS-IGCP. SHELL, and the European Science Foundation.
