Landscape evolution and geoarchaeology

The idea for a conference on the theme of "Landscape Evolution and Geoarchaeology", held at Proto-Heli (Greece) under the auspices of the Geoarchaeology Working Group of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG), arose from the realisation that there are nowadays quite a number of Greek teams working on this subject (Pavlopoulos, 2009), so that a symposium on the topic could be a means of organising an encounter with other international bodies. We would like to tender our warmest thanks to the Hellenic Committee for Geomorphology and Environment, to the Ecole Francaise d'Athenes (French School of Archaeology in Athens), to the Groupe Francais de Geomorphologie (GFG) and to the Belgium-France-Italy-Rumania network of geomorphological meetings for having seconded the initiative taken by the Geoarchaeology Working Group of the IAG, thereby giving the go-ahead for the conference which took place from the 18th to the 21st of June 2008.
