Paleosols in soilscapes of the past and present

摘要

This issue of Quaternary International contains papers presented in symposia organized or co-sponsored by the Paleopedology Commission, Commission 1.6 of the International Union of Soil Science. The symposia were diverse and in addition to studies of paleosols buried in Quaternary deposits, we also include an assortment of studies investigating paleosols formed in prehistoric anthropogenic sediments to Cretaceous deposits. Past pedogenic and geomorphic processes - both simulated and described - are important themes in some papers investigating the current soil cover.
