Since the development of quantitative techniques to improve quality, like control charts, design of experiments, evolutionary operation, response surfaces, Taguchi methods, poka-yoke, an others, the measurement, reduction, and control of variation and defects have been the driving force to achieve a significant improvement in the quality of prod- ucts and services.
