Shear strength for soldered die (chips, pellets) is an im- portant parameter in semiconductor manufacturing. Tradi- tional statistical process control (SPC) is unlikely to work properly, however, because the measurement does not fol- low the Normal distribution. Harris Semiconductor has had extensive experience in dealing with real-world manufactur- ing data that do not follow the traditional assumptions.
