Although this book purports to be concerned with 'planning' and is part of the publisher's 'Planning, Environment and Cities' series, in fact the word 'planning' is used in the widest sense and is by no means limited to urban spatial, land-use planning. The title of Fincher and Iveson's book suggests that the usual range of 'diversity' factors will be covered, but this is not so either.
