摘要

Sustainability continues to be a leitmotif in many of the papers and briefings published in Urban Design and Planning. At least one recent issue featured papers on this theme (Marshall, 2010). The papers assembled in this issue may not have been explicitly written with sustainability in mind, but nevertheless ideas and applications pertaining to sustainability permeate these writings, and thus present a claim for the broader rubric. Within this broader rubric, however, these papers present critical perspectives and arguments for broadening the thinking about sustainability, and thus widening the discourse.
