Improving integrity management for offshore pipelines

For many years, onshore pipelines have been monitored to prevent the occurrence of damage and any associated risks tonsurrounding areas. Offshore pipeline operators have long desired the same capacity to monitor traffic across offshore gasnand oil pipelines. Following legislation that requires an automatic identification system (AIS) to be installed on every vesselnabove 300 gross tonnage, the offshore pipeline industry now has access to technology that has the capacity to monitor allnoffshore traffic in the areas where pipelines are situated, provided there is AIS coverage around them.
