For both consistent monitoring and planning an onshore pipeline, and to provide data for the geographic-informationnsystem, detailed facts regarding the terrain and the topography are needed, and this process is called modelling of thenpipeline corridor. Traditional land-survey techniques are increasingly impractical due to time, cost, and above all issuesnto do with access. With remote data collection, these issues no longer present a problem. Fugro Geospatial Servicesnprovides a wide range of remote data collection services, including satellite imagery analyses, photogrammetry, andnaerial light detection and ranging (LiDAR) surveying. The company’s FLI-MAP (fast laser imaging and mapping airbornenplatform) is a laser scanning system which is designed to offer a solution for the demanding topographical surveysnrequired by pipeline operators.
