Automated mobile pipeline construction: a new approach to mobile automated spiral interlocking pipe

The key innovation of MASIP, when compared to over previous attempts, is a patented asymmetric interlock which enables continuous, ribbed, high-strength, steel strip to be formed automatically in the field and successive layers to be mechanically locked together under pressure. This breakthrough has been facilitated by the availability of new grades of high-strength steel - developed for the automotive industry - which combine high strength with good ductility.
