BSkyB has defended the performance of its general-entertainment channel Sky One which it said continued to be at the heart of the Sky Digital pay-television service, despite a substantial fall in viewing share.rnSky One controller Richard Woolfe told New Media Markets that the channel was "absolutely, categorically" driving customer growth and that he was determined to ensure it retained its status as BSkyB's "flagship entertainment channel".rnHe said: "We've sat down and really defined who we wanted to be, and we are unashamedly about entertainment - in the broadest sense of the word."rnSky Ones average weekly audience share dropped below one per cent during August and September, before reviving to 1.1 per cent over the last five weeks. But a year ago, the channel was capturing shares of 1.6 per cent. It is no longer the most popular Sky channel, having been overtaken by the premium Sky Sports 1.
