Influence of different disinfection methods on bond strength of resin sealer

The purpose of the present in vitro study is to compare the effects of four different disinfectionnmethods on the bond strength of a root canal sealer systemto dentin walls. Forty extracted maxillaryncentral incisors were used. The crowns were removed at the level of the cementoenamel junction.nThe working length of each root canal was established 1 mm short of the apical foramen. All teethnwere instrumented using a set of rotary instruments (ProTaper, Dentsply). The teeth were dividedninto four groups: irrigated with NaCl as control; irrigated with NaClzirradiated with Nd:YAG laser;nirrigated with NaOClzirradiated with Nd:YAG laser; and irrigated with NaOCl. The laser wasnoperated at 1?5 W, 15 Hz, three times for 8 s with a 20 s interval. All teeth were filled using singlencone gutta-percha and a resin sealer. After 1 week of water storage at 37uC, four sections (fourncoronal and four middle) of 1 mm thickness were prepared from each specimen. The testnspecimens were subjected to the push-out test method. Two-way ANOVA and Tukey honestlynsignificant difference tests were used to evaluate the results. The push-out test values did notnstatistically vary according to root parts (p51); however, the differences were significant among thendisinfection methods (p,0?001). Push-out bond strength values of root parts that were disinfectednwith NaOCl and irradiated with Nd:YAG laser were the highest. Nd:YAG lasing in association withnNaOCl irrigation can be recommended as an effective combination to bond resin sealer to dentin.
