摘要

Triaxial compressive experiments on 10 cm concrete cubes were performed. The maximum axial strain experienced by the cube associated with lateral confining pressure is defined as the loading history. The reduction of tensile strength and the descent of ultrasonic velocity characterised the damage degree of these cubes. The laws of damage initiation and development of concrete subjected to monotonic, as well as cyclic load, under the condition of varying confinement pressure were investigated. Based on the results of curve fitting of experimental data, the evolution equation of damage was obtained. The main factors affecting the damage development are examined and the causes are analysed. It is concluded that this method is feasible to estimate the damage of concrete in engineering practice.
